It is located within Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary which is one of the oldest wildlife sanctuaries in India where barking deer, wild boar, Himalayan black bear, Indian leopard, black panther, jungle cat, rhesus monkey are available. The sanctuary is also rich in various types of birds.
The two Senchal lakes supply drinking water to the town of Darjeeling. Dawaipani is an off-beat place offering stunning views of the Kanchenjunga range and lush forests, known for its “medicated water” stream and peaceful ambiance.
